Delivery of Compass Connect will relieve pressure on the Sydney Trains network.
Compass Connect will:
- reduce overcrowding and congestion on trains and at city stations,
- enable increased rail capacity of up to 58,000 additional people to and from the city in peak periods, and
- increase the productivity and utilisation of existing transport and infrastructure assets.
Delivery of Compass Connect will enable train frequency and peak period capacity to be increased on the:

Additionally, Compass Connect will:
- better connect the existing rail network with Sydney's growing CBD,
- enable the rail network to be extended to unserviced areas,
- minimise disruption for rail passengers during construction of the Sydney Metro, and
- fast track the delivery of the Sydney Metro West.
